As Independent India steps into its 71st year, the city of Melbourne is all set to help us commemorate our Independence from the British Raj with a traditional flag hoisting ceremony to be held at Federation Square on Saturday, 11th of August, at 11 am.
The Indian flag is a source of pride and recognition for the Indian populace across the globe. A celebration of the Indian Independence, its dance, music and culture reminds the world of Melbourne’s multiculturalism and its embrace of people from different racial and cultural backgrounds. Join us along with the thousands including Ministers, Counsel General of India and media in celebrating India and its rich heritage. Together, let us personify melbourne’s embrace of diversity by paying homage to one of the most important democracies of the world.
