His movie I Am bagged a National Award for being the Best Hindi Feature Film in 2011. As a filmmaker Onir has received numerous awards and counting, his movies are being screened across the globe at multiple film festivals.
One of the highlights and notable achievement has been the Hollywood International Independent Documentary Award for Raising the Bar - a documentary on Down syndrome.
