Director: Kalpana Lajmi

Kalpana Lajmi was an Indian film director, producer, and screenwriter known for realistic, low-budget, women-oriented parallel cinema. She began as an assistant director under Shyam Benegal and made her directorial debut with the documentary D.G. Movie Pioneer (1978), followed by several documentaries. Her first feature, Ek Pal (1986), was followed by the television serial Lohit Kinare. She returned with the acclaimed Rudaali (1993), which won Dimple Kapadia a National Award. Daman (2001) earned Raveena Tandon a National Award. Her final film was Chingaari (2006).
