Director: Ajoy Kar

Ajoy Kar was an Indian film director and cinematographer who directed 26 films and shot over 80 feature films. A pioneer of Bengali romantic drama, he is best known for Saptapadi (1961), showcased at the Moscow International Film Festival and later honoured at IFFI. His acclaimed films include Harano Sur, Saat Pake Bandha, and National Award-winning Malyadan. Influenced by Western literature, he adapted works by Rabindranath Tagore and Sarat Chandra Chatterjee. His distinctive cinematography shaped Bengali cinema and influenced later filmmakers. Several of his films have been restored and continue to receive international recognition.
