Director: Onir

Onir is a Bhutan-born, Indian filmmaker, producer, screenwriter, editor, and storyteller known for pioneering queer cinema in India. His acclaimed films include My Brother… Nikhil, one of the first mainstream Hindi films on AIDS and same-sex relationships, I AM, India’s pioneering crowd-funded National Award-winning anthology, Pine Cone, My Melbourne, and We Are Faheem & Karun. Based on his memoir I Am Onir and I Am Gay, Pine Cone premiered at BFI Flare. A recipient of numerous honours, including Diversity, Rainbow, Impact, Best Director, and Icon awards, Onir remains a leading voice for inclusion and human rights.
