The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne shines a spotlight on topics and issues that affect us all and is one of Australia’s most significant foreign language film events.
This year’s theme of diversity is reflected in the broad range of films selected for the program. Over 60 films will screen in 20 different languages – alongside Bollywood blockbusters, audiences can look forward to films from India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Since its inception the festival has brought an impressive roll call of global screen stars to Victoria and this year is no different with international guests including Karan Johar, Nitesh Tiwari, Konkona Sen Sharma and Rahul Bose joining the festival’s ambassador Vidya Balan.
This provides an opportunity for Victorians – fans and filmmakers alike – to connect with leading figures from one of the world’s biggest and most successful film industries.
The Victorian Government’s is a proud supporter of film, and this festival in particular, and I congratulate the team on another dynamic program.
Enjoy the 2017 festival.
