Message From The Minister For Creative Industries
Indian Film Festival Melbourne 2016
Victorians love a festival and the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne is an event like no other.
With over 50 films in 17 languages from India and the subcontinent, this festival celebrates Victoria’s long-standing relationship with India, honours our vibrant local Indian community, and presents an exciting program of events for all of us to enjoy.
This year IFFM brings us the best that Indian cinema has to offer; from box office hits to independent films. Beyond the silver screen there is music, dance and public events that will see the festival spill out from the cinema and into Federation Square and Melbourne Recital Centre.
This year’s program will also bring audiences up close to some of India’s brightest stars, and will uncover and showcase the next generation of creative talent.
Last year, over 35,000 people took part in the festival and this year’s program is shaping up to be the best yet.
The Victorian Government is proud to support IFFM as part of Creative State, our $115 million strategy to strengthen Victoria's creative industries and cultural offering.
Congratulations to Mitu Bhowmick Lange and the team at Mind Blowing Films who have performed another intercontinental feat in bringing together a program that illustrates how the voices of all communities help to build Victoria’s reputation as the creative state.
