Busting myths: FEMINISM is not a radical word.
In the wake of Screen Australia’s ‘Gender Matters’ funding, designed to offer greater funding opportunities to women in the film industry, what does the future hold for women in film? How does the industry need to adapt and change to best exemplify an equality of the sexes?

Join IFFM for a discussion on the female in the film industry, as women from both sides of the camera discuss opportunities in the Australian and Indian film industries. How does sexism affect women in the industry? How can we combat this, and create a positive change and positive action?
  

Leena Yadav
Director of Parched, Leena Yadav is a strong and bold filmmaker with exciting creative vision. With a background in film and television editing, she turned her hand to directing with Shabd (2005), a Bollywood drama. Parched (2015) signified a step away from conventional Bollywood film: with a core cast of strong, empathetic women. The film premiered at Toronto International Film Festival to critical acclaim, and won significant impact awards across the globe.
  

Sara Haider
With a powerful and captivating voice, Karachi-born singer-songwriter Sara Haider is a young artist on the rise. With influences from East and West, the powerhouse vocalist has captivated audiences of Pakistan’s Coke Studio, establishing herself as a hardworking artist with an exciting future ahead.
  

Sue Maslin
Sue Maslin is a film producer and director, best known for critically acclaimed films,The Dressmaker (2015), and Japanese Story (2003). With a passion for screen industry development, Maslin has established herself as a dedicated and innovative producer; and is currently Patron of Women In Film and Television Victoria and President of the Natalie Miller Fellowship.
  

Jenni Tosi
Jenni Tosi is the CEO of Film Victoria, the Victorian Government’s screen agency based in Melbourne, Australia. With over 35 years of production experience, Jenni has a deep and practical knowledge of the Australian screen industry along with an extensive network of industry relationships including producers, directors, writers, actors, broadcasters, distributors and financiers.

As CEO, Jenni oversees the delivery of Film Victoria’s industry support programs across the film, television and games sectors in Victoria. She leads a dedicated team to deliver production support, script development, incentives, industry events and partnership activities among other activities, all aimed at developing and strengthening the Victorian screen industry.
