Varun Grover, a multi-talented Indian comedian, writer, lyricist, and poet, has left an indelible mark on the Indian entertainment industry with his wit, creativity, and intellectual depth. Rising to fame in the comedy circuit, Varun Grover's stand-up routines captivated audiences with their sharp and socially relevant content, earning him a dedicated fanbase. "Masaan" (2015), his debut feature as a screenplay writer, played in Un Certain Regard section at 68th Cannes Film Festival and went on to win FIPRESCI Jury as well as Promising Future prizes in the section.
His exceptional work as a lyricist has won him a National Film Award for the song "Moh Moh Ke Dhaage" for the film "Dum Laga Ke Haisha" (2015). He has also written lyrics for cult albums like "Gangs of Wasseypur" (2012), "Fan" and "Udta Punjaab" (2016), and "Monica O My Darling" (2022). Grover has proved himself to be a master of words, capable of evoking profound emotions through his art.
His talent extends to television, where he penned captivating scripts for popular shows, further solidifying his position as a versatile creative force. He is the lead writer and Executive Producer of Netflix India's critically acclaimed original series, "Sacred Games" (2018 - 2019).
His stellar feature directorial debut "All India Rank" (2023), that premiered at International Festival of Rotterdam (2023) and will be screened at IFFM 2023, adds another feather to Grover's cap, and is a testament to his continuous exploration of different creative avenues.
