Onir

Onir, the accomplished Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer, is renowned for his thought-provoking and socially relevant cinema. With a unique storytelling style, he fearlessly sheds light on important social issues and unjust stigmas, making a significant impact on the Indian film industry.

His directorial debut, "My Brother... Nikhil" (2005), courageously tackled HIV/AIDS and LGBTQIA+ themes, breaking taboos and earning international recognition. Onir's commitment to addressing societal taboos and human rights is evident in films like "I Am" (2010), an anthology exploring identity and freedom.

Venturing into new creative territories, Onir directed the documentary "SAMA: Symbols and Gestures in Contemporary Art of Italy and India" in 2021, delving into the world of contemporary art. His latest film, "Pine Cone" (2023), advocates for true representation of the LGBTQ community and will be screened at IFFM 2023.

As a producer, he nurtures independent cinema through his production company, Anticlock Films, providing a platform for emerging talent and experimental narratives. With numerous accolades and 16 film awards, Onir's work continues to push boundaries and leave a lasting impact on both Indian and international film scenes.
