Welcome to the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne - a celebration of the biggest film industry on the planet.
Despite its huge output and ever-increasing global reach, however, many film lovers outside of India have little idea just how broad Indian cinema really is. From Bengali art house and Malayalam thrillers to Hindi blockbusters and Tamil action flicks, there's something for everyone, and now you can experience them all for yourself at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne where a dazzling selection of 40 films is only the start. We'll also be celebrating and fostering the many links that already exist between our multicultural city and the most populous democracy on earth.
In honour of Melbourne’s vibrant production base, we will be holding a series of Master Classes with special guests from India’s film industry: a costume designer, writer, animator and director.
Some of India's biggest stars and most respected filmmakers are coming to share their films in person, including a series of Q&A sessions with notable directors and producers.
We're also providing a platform for the next generation of filmmaking talent from India, Australia and New Zealand with the Western Union Short Film Competition.
So come and celebrate the films and filmmakers of the world's biggest cinema producer, right in the heart of Melbourne.
