IFFM Awards Night
Anticipation was building outside the Princess Theatre on Spring St, as crowds of Indian supporters waited amidst the cold to catch a glimpse of Bollywood stars , the winners of the IFFM Awards iat the inaugral IFFM Awards night. Dhol players lined the red carpet as Bharathanatyam dancers posed to the beat with hoards of attendees causing pedestrian traffic to come to a stand still outside the prestigious Melbourne landmark.

Mr Bachchan was honoured by the Victorian government and the festival at the glittering function .The heritage listed theatre came alive with roaring appreciation as Mr Bachchan ( International Screen Icon award ) , along with Kangana Ranuat ( Best Actress for Queen ) , Ritesh Batra ( Best Indie Film - the Lunchbox ) ,Farhan Akhtar and Irrfan Khan ( Best Actor for Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and The Lunch Box ) , Rakesh Mehra ( Best Director & Best Film - Bhaag Milkha Bhaag ) and Vijay Acharya & Avtar Panesar ( People's Choice Award - Dhoom 3) received their awards.

The esteem jury of the most respected Australian and Indian film practioners of Jill Billcock ( editor - Moulin Rouche , Elizabeth , Romeo and Juliet ) , Rajkumar Hirani , Simi Garewal , Rajeev Masand , Phillip Noyce ( director : Salt , Rabbit Proof Fence , The Saint , Clear and present danger , The Quiet American )and Suhasini Maniratnam were in full force to support their choices.

The night was a celebration of Indian culture through film, contemporary and classical dance, and subcontinental fusion beats, ending with a standing ovation when Mr Amitabh Bachchan came to the floor.
