Ram Charan

Konidela Ram Charan Tej, more popularly known by his stage name Ram Charan, is an Indian actor who works predominantly in Telugu cinema and is also a film producer and entrepreneur.

He is the grandson of the illustrious Sri Allu Rama Lingaiah, a Padma Shri awardee, a homeopathic doctor and also a popular comedian, who had appeared in over a thousand Telugu films. An active freedom fighter, he was arrested for his participation in the Quit India Moment.

His father is Sri Chiranjeevi Konidela, a Padma Bhushan awardee, renowned as a megastar of the Telegu film industry and a philanthropist. Therefore, growing up, Ram Charan developed a strong understanding that beyond entertainment, the movie industry provides gainful employment to millions and also that it is an incredibly powerful platform to inspire youth to accelerate societal change. In 2007, he made his acting debut with the film "Chirutha" and won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut in South for his performance in his first movie. Over the years Ram Charan received widespread critical acclaim and established himself as a leading Telugu film actor. A few of his widely successful films would include "Chirutha" (2007), "Racha" (2012); "Naayak"(2013); "Yevadu"; "Govindudu", "Andarivadele"(2014).

"Magadheera" (2009) "Dhruva" (2016) and "Rangasthalam" (2018) broke industry records for their performance as well as Revenue generated for the industry in India & Overseas.

Most recently, the record-breaking "Roudram Ranam Rudhiram"(RRR) starring Ramcharan as Freedom fighter Alluri Sita Rama Raju was immensely successful across the world. As is evident from his body of work, most of Ram Charan's on-screen characters inspire patriotism and love for the motherland. Mindful of his powerful influence on millions of his fans, Ram Charan is extremely disciplined and strives very hard to make his performances stand out. His dedication to the craft has led to him being conferred with over 15 prestigious awards and also being nominated for national awards on several occasions.

A true patriot, Ram Charan believes that in the movie RRR, he was particularly blessed to enact the character of Alluri Sitharama Raju, an Indian freedom fighter, who was an integral member of the Rampa rebellion. In July 2022, the Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modiji had unveiled a 30-foot-tall bronze statue of Alluri Sitharama Raju at Bhimavaram in Andhra Pradesh to mark his 125th birth anniversary. Hailing him as an 'inspiration' and 'a symbol of bravery and courage of tribals', the Prime Minister announced a museum and a tribal research institute in his memory.

Even Ram Charan's first foray into movie production as a film producer was the iconic story of "Sye Raa Narsimha Reddy", in which his illustrious father, Sri Chiranjeevi played the role of the protagonist. With this film, his production house, Konidela Production raised the bar in storytelling with its cinematic brilliance.

An inspiring aspect about Ram Charan has been that beyond entertaining his fans with his films, he has continuously harnessed his fan following to keep giving back to the community. An ardent champion for blood donation, he has repeatedly led from the front, by donating first at camps, that he would organize in partnership with like-minded individuals and organizations. Cognizant of his responsibilities as the Managing Trustee of the Chiranjeevi Blood and Eye Bank, he has spared no effort to motivate everyone to regularly donate blood and in his addresses at these events, he has used them as a platform to bust myths about blood donation. In particular, standing with the community, including the film fraternity during the lockdowns due to the COVID-19, Ram Charan's efforts stood tall and inspired many to follow his lead. Beginning by donating funds himself, Ram Charan persevered and raised funds to support the members of the film industry who were out of work and also assisted thousands of daily wage workers. During the second wave of this unprecedented crisis, accessing oxygen for patients became a huge challenge. It was then that in a remarkable manner, Ram Charan rapidly established 32 oxygen banks across the two Telegu States and provided oxygen concentrators to several smaller medical centres.

Furthermore, it's an indubitable fact that entrepreneurs have a critical role to play in shaping economies of nations and our Hon’ble Prime Minister has often said that startups are the backbone of a new India. In addition to being a leading actor and film producer. In 2015, he had ventured into the airline business with his own carrier service "Trujet" as a low-cost regional carrier and a year ago, he co-founded URlife, a holistic wellbeing platform with his spouse. Ram Charan is both a "reel hero" and a multifaceted individual in his real life and yet one would find him to be enormously simple and deeply committed to doing much more for the community, adding power in building a truly inclusive India!
