Tanmaya Shekhar is a Mumbai-based filmmaker known for exploring personal and sociopolitical themes through an imaginative lens. His debut feature Nukkad Naatak won the Special Jury Prize at the Kolkata International Film Festival and Best Debut Film at the Indo-German Film Week (in Berlin).
His short film Scenes from a Pandemic was nominated for Best Film, Best Writer, and Best Director at the 2024 Critics’ Choice Awards.
Previously based in New York, he co-wrote the PBS documentary Farmers for America and worked on two HBO shows - The Plot Against America and Love Life, as well as a film by Focus Features.
Tanmaya is an alumnus of IIT Kanpur.
