A filmmaker. A poet. A visionary who didn’t just make films - he changed the language of Indian cinema.
To celebrate 100 years of Guru Dutt’s cinematic brilliance, the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2025 will be screening Kagaz Ke Phool and Pyaasa.
Guru Dutt gave us stories soaked in emotion, artistry, and soul - films that didn’t just entertain, but etched themselves into the collective memory of generations. He dared to explore loneliness, beauty, love, and identity like no one else, and in doing so, he defined a new cinematic grammar that was lyrical, layered, and ahead of its time.
100 years later, we still watch in awe.
We still learn.
We still feel.
