Fidel Devkota

Fidel Devkota is a Nepalese filmmaker and visual anthropologist living between Kathmandu and Berlin. He holds a BFS in Film Studies from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu and MA and a PhD degrees in Visual Media Anthropology from the Freie Universitat, Berlin. He is presently on the faculty at Kathmandu University, doing independent research as a visual/environmental anthropologist in the Himalayas. Fidel's films, photography and writings focus on themes of spiritual, social and economic transformation in a time of environmental and political change in Nepal. He has directed fiction and documentary short films: The Last Fit (2007), Irony (2008), Shambala: The Story of Paradise Lost (2011) and The Last Yak Herder of Dhe (2014). The Red Suitcase is his first narrative feature film.
