I am delighted to send a message of support to the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne as audiences of all backgrounds and nationalities gather to celebrate Indian cinema.
Indian cinema is as diverse and dynamic as the nation that inspires it. One of the world’s most prolific film industries, Indian cinema captivates audiences, garners praise and influences filmmakers all around the world.
The success of this festival over 15 years reflects both the strength of Australia’s relationship with India and the vibrancy of our Indian-Australian community. Weaving together business, culture and community, it provides a creative platform for the exchange of diverse ideas and values.
I have no doubt that this year’s program will delight, uplift and provoke, and – with opening night coinciding with India’s Independence Day – bring joy and pride to everyone taking part.
I thank everyone involved with the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne and wish this outstanding event every success in 2024 and beyond.
