World Premiere at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2024 Opening Night

My Melbourne is the Opening Night Film of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2024. With two full houses at Xtreamscreen Cinemas, Hoyts District Docklands, and over 800 attendees, we celebrated the world premiere of My Melbourne. Directors Imtiaz Ali, Kabir Khan, and Rima Das, along with key cast and crew members, as well as local and international talents, joined the event. It was a night filled with great energy and pride, celebrating a film inspired by Melbourne and the authentic lived experiences within this city.

International Premiere at MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2024 Gala Premieres
Mumbai, India

My Melbourne premiered internationally at the prestigious Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image (MAMI) Mumbai Film Festival. The film was beautifully received by a full house audience in Mumbai, with a standing ovation and cheering throughout. In the post-screening Q&A, the audience asked many great questions, leading to engaging discussions with the directors, producer, and writer.

International Premiere at the 30th Kolkata International Film Festival
Kolkata, India

My Melbourne premiered internationally at the prestigious 30th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF). The film was screened at the historic and beautiful Nandan Film and Cultural Centre, specifically Nandan-I, which seats 960 people and was completely sold out.
Adding to the celebration, the My Melbourne film tram was running through the streets of Kolkata. Directors Imtiaz Ali, Onir, and Rima Das joined audiences and media on a special tram ride, sharing stories from their filmmaking journey.

Special Screening at the 22nd Chennai International Film Festival

My Melbourne premiered at the prestigious 22nd Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF). Sharing a delightful Saturday noon with a full house audience in Chennai was an absolute joy. We were thrilled to celebrate authentic stories from Melbourne with such a warm and enthusiastic crowd. What made the experience even more special was witnessing the long queue and the incredible eagerness of the audience to watch My Melbourne. Many shared that it was their first time seeing Melbourne on the big screen—and that they fell in love with the city through the film.

My Melbourne had a special screening at the 16th Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) in Jaipur, India. We were incredibly proud to share the film with the Jaipur audience and celebrate the stories of Melbourne on such a wonderful platform. What made the experience even more memorable was receiving the Green Rose (Global Message) Award and the Best Director Award—an honour that truly means a lot to our team.

My Melbourne proudly opened the UK Asian Film Festival 2025 as the Opening Gala Film, marking its European premiere to a warmly received audience and critics. The film went on to win two prestigious Tongues on Fire Flame Awards 2025: Best Film and the award for ‘Longing and Belonging. These honors highlight the film’s emotional impact and cross-cultural connection with audiences in the UK and beyond.
