Emma Macey-Storch

Emma Macey-Storch is a multi award-winning filmmaker and creative powerhouse with decades of experience working with communities and training them to use film as a tool for social change. Driven by a passion to tell authentic, intimate stories that deepen our understanding and empathy for the human experience, Emma made history in 2022 as Australia's first recipient of the Inaugural Ferguson Film Prize (Australia’s prize for first time or second time directors that demonstrate captivating, daring, and ambitious storytelling). Her first feature film, GEETA (www.geetafilm.com) (MIFF 2021, SWIFF 2022, Gold Coast Film Festival 2022, Best Social Justice Documentary Santa Barbara International Film Festival in 2022, Best of Show, Docs Without Borders, Montreal Feminist Film Festival, Best International Documentary, FILUMS (Pakistan) has screened across the world to critical acclaim. Finding Affection sees Emma collaborating with community once again to share the captivating story of 30 volunteers from Naarm (Melbourne) as they attempt to use the transformative medium of participatory theatre to inspire audiences to challenge family violence in their community. Sneh Community Theatre is an extraordinary project created by Psychiatrist Professor Manjula Datta O'Connor and realised in collaboration with local theatre director Namrata Sharma and the community participants.
